A direct read on your metabolism
Mitochondrial and cellular energy status: how efficiently your body is actually producing fuel
B-vitamin and cofactor needs: the specific micronutrients your metabolic pathways are asking for
Oxidative stress and recovery markers: whether your body is keeping up with your training load
Neurotransmitter-related metabolites tied to focus, drive, and motivation
Fuel utilization: how well you're burning carbohydrates and fats for performance
Gut-derived metabolites that reflect digestion and how you're processing what you eat
Where small, targeted adjustments can unlock the biggest gains in energy and output
Built on your chemistry, not averages
Most training and nutrition plans are built on averages. Metabolomics is built on you. By measuring dozens of the small-molecule byproducts your body produces as it turns food into energy, this panel gives us a real-time snapshot of how your metabolism is actually running, from mitochondrial energy production to the specific vitamins and cofactors your pathways depend on. It's the difference between guessing what your body needs and reading it directly.
Krebs / citric-acid-cycle organic acids (mitochondrial energy)
Urinary TCA-cycle intermediates such as citrate, cis-aconitate, isocitrate, alpha-ketoglutarate, succinate, fumarate, and malate, reflecting flux through the mitochondrial energy-production pathway.
These intermediates are the backbone of aerobic ATP production. Their urinary pattern supports understanding of how efficiently the mitochondria are turning fuel into energy; exercise metabolomics shows TCA intermediates, lactate and pyruvate rise acutely with exertion, so the profile may help identify optimization opportunities for aerobic energy output and training-load management in healthy active adults. Wellness framing only — not a disease test. [1,2]
B-vitamin functional cofactor markers
Functional organic-acid markers of B-vitamin sufficiency, e.g. methylmalonic acid (B12), formiminoglutamate/FIGLU (folate), and xanthurenate/kynurenine-pathway ratios (B6), plus markers reflecting thiamine/riboflavin-dependent steps.
B vitamins are the enzymatic cofactors that power the energy-production cascade and the TCA cycle. Elevated functional markers can appear before blood levels shift, so they support understanding of subtle cofactor gaps that are associated with fatigue and reduced energy in active people, and may help identify optimization opportunities for energy metabolism and endurance. Wellness/optimization framing only. [3,4,5,6,7]
CoQ10 / ubiquinone-related energy markers
Markers reflecting mitochondrial electron-transport and cellular bioenergetic status related to coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone/ubiquinol) function.
CoQ10 is an essential electron carrier in the respiratory chain that underpins ATP synthesis and doubles as a lipid-phase antioxidant. Insight here supports understanding of cellular energy capacity; CoQ10 status is associated with subjective fatigue and, with chronic use, modest exercise-performance and recovery effects — useful for identifying energy-optimization opportunities, not for diagnosing disease. [8,9,10]
Carnitine & fatty-acid-oxidation markers
Acylcarnitine/carnitine-related organic acids and fat-oxidation intermediates that reflect transport of long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria for beta-oxidation.
Fatty-acid oxidation is the dominant fuel for prolonged, lower-intensity endurance work and spares muscle glycogen. This category supports understanding of fat-versus-carbohydrate fuel use and may help identify opportunities to optimize endurance fueling and metabolic flexibility in healthy active adults. Wellness framing only. [11]
Oxidative-stress markers
Urinary markers of oxidative damage such as 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), an excreted product of oxidative DNA repair, and related redox markers.
Hard training transiently increases reactive-oxygen-species production; urinary 8-OHdG rises with high training loads in endurance athletes. Tracking these markers supports understanding of oxidative load versus antioxidant capacity and may help identify recovery-optimization opportunities (training-load balance, antioxidant-rich nutrition). Not a disease-risk diagnosis. [12]
Neurotransmitter metabolites (mood, drive, sleep)
Catecholamine and serotonin breakdown products, e.g. homovanillic acid (HVA, dopamine), vanillylmandelic acid (VMA, norepinephrine/epinephrine), and 5-HIAA (serotonin).
Dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin turnover shape motivation/drive, arousal, mood and sleep quality — all of which influence training consistency and recovery. Exercise measurably changes catecholamine metabolism, so this category supports understanding of stress/recovery balance and may help identify optimization opportunities for mood, motivation and sleep. Wellness framing only. [13]
Gut / microbial metabolites
Organic acids of microbial origin, including short-chain-fatty-acid-related metabolites and other bacterial dysbiosis markers produced by the gut microbiome.
Gut microbes ferment fiber into short-chain fatty acids that serve as an energy substrate and modulate inflammation and energy homeostasis; SCFA-producing taxa are enriched in athletes. This category supports understanding of the gut's contribution to energy availability and inflammatory tone, and may help identify opportunities to optimize energy and recovery through diet and gut health. Not a disease test. [14]
Amino-acid & protein-metabolism markers
Urinary amino acids and protein-turnover markers, including branched-chain amino acids and 3-methylhistidine, a non-recycled product of myofibrillar (actin/myosin) protein breakdown.
Amino-acid availability and the balance of muscle protein synthesis versus breakdown drive recovery and training adaptation. BCAAs/leucine stimulate muscle protein synthesis after resistance exercise, and urinary 3-methylhistidine indexes myofibrillar breakdown, so this category supports understanding of protein status and may help identify recovery- and adaptation-optimization opportunities in active adults. Wellness framing only. [15,16]
Marker groups reflect commonly reported categories in broad-panel urinary metabolomics; the exact analytes and reference ranges are determined by the analyzing laboratory. This testing is for wellness and performance optimization in healthy adults and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
