Strength, Nutrition, and Recovery — Built on Science
Every program at Performance Training Center is engineered around your physiology, your goals, and your life. We start with a complete physiological assessment — posture, movement patterns, breathing, sleep, and nutrition. From that data we build a strength and conditioning program grounded in evidence-based exercise science: progressive overload, periodization, neural-drive development, and biomechanically-precise movement patterning.
Our strength and conditioning approach draws from NSCA principles, applied biomechanics, and motor-learning research. Every loading decision — set, rep, tempo, rest, range of motion — is calibrated to your training age, neuromuscular capacity, and recovery profile. The result is measurable strength gains, durable mobility, and the kind of physical resilience that holds for years.
Martin’s methodology is a fully custom Performance Training Center system — applied exercise science, structural assessment, and Feldenkrais somatic methodology integrated into every program. This integrated approach produces durable results across strength, body composition, and movement quality.
Our Integrated Training System
Our approach combines four disciplines into one continuous program — built for clients who want a comprehensive, science-grounded system.
Strength & Conditioning
Progressive overload, periodization, and motor-pattern development grounded in NSCA-aligned principles. Programs are calibrated to your training age, neuromuscular capacity, and recovery profile — driving measurable gains in strength, power, and movement quality.
Sports Nutrition
Macros, meal timing, and supplementation engineered to your performance goals — fat loss, muscle gain, recovery, and energy. Built on evidence-based sports nutrition science and personalized to your physiology.
Somatic Therapy
Feldenkrais Method-based work that resolves movement compensation patterns left behind by old injuries — restoring full neuromuscular function and movement confidence.
Functional Health Assessment
Functional lab testing — microbiome panels, hormonal markers, and food sensitivity screening — when stubborn symptoms or plateaus call for deeper investigation.
Services for Encinitas Clients
Who We Train
All ages and abilities. We work with three primary client profiles in Encinitas and the surrounding North County coast:
All Ages and Levels
From young professionals to retired athletes — we engineer customized personal training programs around your goals, your physiology, and the time you have. Whether you’re chasing strength gains, building longevity, or working back from a long break, the program meets you where you are.
Post-Surgery & Post-Rehab Clients
Cleared by your physical therapist but not yet back to full function. Our somatic therapy plus structured strength and conditioning closes the gap between PT clearance and full functional return. We have worked with clients post-ACL reconstruction, post-rotator cuff repair, post-spinal procedures, and post-hip and knee replacements — restoring full strength and movement quality.
Performance Athletes & Golfers
Looking for 15-20 yards more carry, sub-3 handicap progress, or the strength base to keep playing the sport you love into your 60s and beyond. We train Golf-Specific Strengthening with TPI-grounded methodology — relevant for Encinitas Ranch golfers, North County biotech executives, and coastal professionals balancing surf, family, and longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far is the studio from Encinitas?
Approximately 25 minutes via I-5 South. We’re at 440 Upas Street, Unit 104, in San Diego’s Bankers Hill neighborhood. Most Encinitas clients choose in-home training — we deliver it across Encinitas, Cardiff, and Leucadia.
Do you offer in-home personal training in Encinitas?
Yes. In-home training is available across Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, Olivenhain, and the surrounding North County coastal communities. Sessions work with whatever home gym setup you have, your bodyweight, or outdoor space — Encinitas clients often use beach-front or yard sessions along Moonlight Beach or Swami’s. Many alternate between in-home and studio sessions depending on the week.
Do you offer one-on-one personal training, or only group sessions?
One-on-one is our primary model. Every session is part of a customized personal training program built for the individual based on your assessment, your goals, and where you are that week. We also offer small-group training (2-4 people, typically family or close-friend pairs) for clients who prefer it.
How long are training sessions?
60 minutes for standard sessions. Initial consultations are 30 minutes — we walk through your goals, your current fitness baseline, your injury history, and whether our methodology is the right fit for you. Most clients book a follow-up assessment session afterward.
I just had surgery and was cleared by my physical therapist. Can you help me get back to full function?
Yes — this is one of our specialties. Somatic therapy plus progressive strength and conditioning is specifically designed to bridge the gap between PT clearance and full functional return. We’ve worked with clients post-ACL reconstruction, post-rotator cuff repair, post-spinal procedures, and post-hip and knee replacements. We coordinate with your surgeon and PT when relevant.
What strength and conditioning principles do you use?
Programs are built on evidence-based exercise science — progressive overload, periodization (linear, undulating, or block depending on your goals), neural-drive development, and biomechanically-precise movement patterning. We follow NSCA-aligned principles and calibrate every loading decision to your training age, neuromuscular capacity, and recovery profile.
Do you take insurance?
We’re a private personal training studio, not a medical clinic. We don’t bill insurance. Sessions are paid out-of-pocket, but we provide FSA/HSA-eligible documentation for sessions related to post-surgical rehabilitation when applicable.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Sessions cancelled with 24 hours’ notice are rescheduled at no charge. Less than 24 hours and the session is forfeit. Packages are non-refundable but transferable to a friend or family member.
How quickly will I see results?
Individual results vary based on ability, program intensity, recovery, and individual adherence. The clients who get the most out of training are honest with us about nutrition, sleep, and life stress — those factors drive the majority of outcomes alongside the training itself.
What does pricing look like?
In-studio sessions are $150 per session — same rate whether you book a single session or a package. In-home training starts at $300 per visit, with the final rate based on neighborhood travel time. Virtual coaching is $350 per month. View full rates.
Are you taking new clients right now?
We accept a limited number of new clients each month to maintain coaching quality. The best first step is the free BMR calculator + 30-minute consultation — that’s how we determine whether you’re a fit for our current openings. Reach out and we’ll let you know what’s available.
