Assessment & Program Design

A Program Built For Your Body — Run It Anywhere

Come in once. Get assessed properly, get a training cycle written for the body you actually have, and spend ninety minutes learning how to run it. Then you take it home — to your garage, your building gym, your hotel, or another city — and I stay with you through the cycle.

$899per 4–6 week cycle

Who This Is For

Two kinds of people book this, and they usually want the same thing: a real plan instead of another template.

You are training around a limitation

A lower back that flares up when you deadlift. A shoulder that has never felt right overhead since the injury. You have been cleared by your physical therapist or your surgeon, the pain is gone, and you still do not trust the joint under load. What you need is not more rehab — it is a strength program written by someone who knows what the limitation is and programs around it deliberately, instead of hoping it holds.

You train on your own and want the programming to be right

You are consistent. You do not need someone counting your reps. What you need is a cycle that actually progresses — the right lifts in the right order, loads that climb at a rate your recovery can absorb, and a plan for what happens when a week goes badly. A strength, hypertrophy, or mobility goal, or a mix of rebuilding and getting strong again.

In both cases the assessment happens in person, here in Bankers Hill. Everything after that happens wherever you are.

What You Get

Five parts, in this order. Roughly four hours of my time before you ever start the program, plus the check-ins across the cycle.

1

Phone interview

Before anything is booked, we talk. Your history, what you are training for, what has gone wrong before, and what your week actually looks like. If this is not the right fit, I will tell you on this call rather than take your money.

15 min
2

In-person physical assessment

In the studio. How you stand, breathe, hinge, squat, press and reach overhead — and where the limitation actually sits, which is often not where the pain is. This is the part that cannot be done over video, and it is the reason the program that follows is worth anything.

1 hour
3

Program design

An hour of writing, off the clock with you. Built around what the assessment found, the equipment you actually have access to, and how many days a week you can honestly train. A 4–6 week cycle with the progressions already mapped, not a list of exercises.

1 hour
4

In-person training session — the handoff

We train the program together so you know how every lift is supposed to feel, not just how it is spelled. We cover the titrations — when to add load, when to hold, what to do with a session that goes badly — and how this cycle builds into the next phase. This is the longest session for a reason: what you learn here is what makes the next six weeks work without me in the room.

90 min
5

Weekly check-ins through the cycle

Five minutes a week, every week, until the cycle is done. What moved, what did not, what hurt, what felt easy. Short on purpose — enough to catch a problem in week two instead of week six.

5 min / wk

Also included

  • Discounted access to the supplement store — practitioner-grade, third-party tested Designs for Health products at a client rate.
  • My coaching whenever you want it — additional 1:1 sessions in the studio, at $175 per session. Some people book one mid-cycle, most do not need to.

What Happens After the Cycle

The cycle ends, we look at what it produced, and you decide. If you want the next phase, we rebuild it at the same fee — a fresh assessment of where you now are, a new 4–6 week cycle written off that, and the same handoff session. Most progress that lasts is built this way: block after block, each one written off real data from the last, rather than one plan run into the ground for a year.

Being clear about the lane

Performance Training Center is a performance-training studio, not a medical or physical-therapy clinic. We do not provide physical therapy, diagnosis, or medical treatment, and this program does not treat an injury.

What it does is build strength around a limitation your licensed provider has already assessed. If you have an active physical therapist, physician or surgeon, the program is written around their guidance, not against it — and with your permission I welcome discharge summaries, post-surgical protocols and any restrictions they have set. If you are in pain and have not been seen by a provider yet, see one first. I will still be here afterwards.

Common Questions

Do I have to live in San Diego?

No, but you do have to get here twice — once for the assessment and once for the handoff session. Plenty of people schedule both on the same trip, a day or two apart. After that the cycle runs wherever you live, with the weekly check-ins.

Can the assessment be done over video instead?

No. Watching someone move on a screen is not the same as putting hands on the movement and loading it to see what changes. The in-person assessment is what the rest of the program is built from, so it is not something I am willing to skip.

What equipment do I need?

Whatever you have. The program is written after we talk about your setup — a full garage rack, a hotel gym, a couple of dumbbells and a floor. The programming changes, the principles do not.

How is this different from booking sessions at $175 an hour?

Sessions are coaching in the room with you. This is a written training cycle you own and run yourself, built off a formal assessment, with a handoff session and check-ins wrapped around it. If you want somebody coaching every set, book sessions instead — that is the better product for you.

What does it cost, and what if I want another cycle?

$899 for the full cycle: the phone interview, the in-person assessment, the program design, the 90-minute handoff session and the weekly check-ins. The next cycle is rebuilt at the same fee whenever you are ready for it. See full rates.

Will this fix my back or my shoulder?

That is not a promise I am able to make, and I would be wary of anyone who does. This is training built around a limitation, coordinated with whoever is treating you. What it is designed to do is get you strong again without repeatedly walking into the thing that sets you off. If you have not been assessed by a licensed provider, start there.
